Call for Proposals

The SASF invites string teachers of all phases, performers, specialists, and researchers to submit proposals for presentations in the following formats:

• Paper presentation (12-20 min) *
• Lecture demonstration/recital (20-30 min)
• Workshop (40-50 min)
• Roundtable discussions (SASF team decides the timeframe)

The SASF welcomes a wide range of topics related to all aspects of Southern African orchestral, indigenous, jazz, and contemporary plucked and bowed stringed instruments. Proposals which in some way speak to the 2023 Convention theme of RESONANCE are encouraged.

* The South African Strings Foundation wants to provide a platform where all kinds of string-related knowledge can be shared. This knowledge comes in many shapes and forms, including:

• insights gained through practice and experience (for example, practising your craft, performing, teaching experience).
• expertise of a community of practice, inuding those that might not be formally recognised (for example, the cultural knowledge that informs learning to play an indigenous African instrument or perform in a rock band).
• research findings developed through scholarly activities.
